Melissa Marchese, 18, of Shoreham, was a passenger involved in a two-car crash on Route 25A on Thursday, June 20. Marchese was airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
The wake for Marchese will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 21 at the Branch Funeral Home on Route 25A in Miller Place. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at approximately 9:30 a.m.
The funeral procession is expected to leave the funeral home at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22 to travel to St. Mark’s Church on Randall Road in Shoreham.
A vigil for Marchese has also been planned for 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 at the Shoreham-Wading River High School softball field, where she enjoyed a five-year varsity career. Marchese was planning to attend the University of Hartford as a member of the school’s softball team.
With a heavy turnout expected at the funeral, the Suffolk County Police Department issued a traffic advisory, warning that there will be traffic delays in the area during proceedings. Motorists have been advised to find alternate routes during the wake and funeral for Marchese.
